New York, NY @ Terracycle Green Up Shop

Greetings New Yorkers! Please come celebrate Earth Month with the Terracycle Green Up Shop, a design and boutique shopping experience springing up for a limited time only, opening March 27, 2010. In honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, it features some of New York’s finest green design and fashion. The shop will showcase a wide range of green products and services and host exciting weekly events like eco-friendly film screenings, lectures, and DIY events. Which brings us to Generation T! Come join us (and Etsy and Green Up vendors RePlayGround and Garbage of Eden, and, and…I’m just giddy thinking about it) for a free-to-the-public DIY Scraptacular on April 8! Come support the green movement and make stuff out of scraps (and in the case of Generation T, scrap T-shirts!).

Oh, and as if you needed anything more, beverages provided by Brooklyn Brewery and Snow.

Don’t forget to RSVP here!

Anaheim, CA @ CHA Winter Convention

Each winter, sunny California is host to the largest craft convention in the business, organized by the Craft & Hobby Association. I’ll be wandering the aisles on Sunday and Monday (January 24 and 25), but come Tuesday, I’ll pull my scissors from their holster and do a couple half-hour T-shirt demos at the Provo Craft booth and stage–scissors plus Yudu machine equals big-time fun. And each demo will be followed by a booksigning, also with Provo Craft–which equals more big-time fun. Come visit!

Brooklyn, NY @ Etsy Craft Labs

Come to the Etsy Labs for Monday Craft Night (specifically, a used clothing swap and clothing reinvention project!) I’ll be co-hosting the evening with Sheena Matheiken and Eliza Starbuck of The Uniform Project. If you’re not in the area, you can still join the party–because you can attend the lab via video podcast with Julie Schneider of Etsy at 5:00 pm! The Uniform Project will talk about the 365 day challenge they’re doing to raise money and awareness for disadvantaged school children: Sheena has been wearing one little black dress (don’t worry, she has 7 copies she can rotate through) for an entire year and documenting inventive ways to customize her LBD with handmade and vintage accessories.

Then, roll up your sleeves and make a T-shirt project, too. Generation T will share how to turn an oversize T-shirt into a fitted tank top…and then three different ways to use the sleeves you cut off to make accessories. So bring some used clothing to swap with other participants or cut up and reinvent, but Etsy will also provide some misprinted T-shirts donated by Threadless to use.

Willow Grove, PA @ AC Moore

Another GRAND OPENING celebration! Please join Generation T next Saturday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm as we smash the proverbial champagne bottle across the bow of another new crafty ship (just swap out the bottle for a pair of scissors and the ship for a T-shirt and you’re golden). As usual, I’ll bring my Sharpie to sign books and I’ll pack my sharpest scissors to present a new demo every 15 minutes or so. Hope to see you there!
