As many of you know, I’ve been incredibly busy the last couple of years, traveling around with my first book and writing a second! Needless to say, I’ve been neglecting my dear website, which has been patiently awaiting a makeover. Well, it’s finally ready for the big reveal. As you’ll see, it’s not entirely new–you might recognize a lot of the artwork that my sister Sophie created for the original website. But I’ve also added some new art that my sister Ariana made and worked in some of my own illustrations, too.
The old site was hard to update frequently, so I’m super excited that this new format will be allow me to be in better touch with all of you. I’ll continue to post fun new projects as well as introduce other features, like book reviews; interviews with your favorite artists, crafters, and makers; events that are going on in the crafty community; and plenty of other fun stuff!
Please bear with us while we continue to update our archives (it can be slow going), and be sure to come out and visit me while I’m on book tour! I’m hitting the road soon — so check out the Events section for updates — I’d love to you see you at a Tee Party. First stop Barnes & Noble on 7th Avenue in Park Slope Brooklyn on Wednesday, June 17. Megan! So excited to see the new book and site — Looks great!
Megan, you don’t know me, but my name is Emily, and I’m not an expert at sewing or DIY by any means, but I made the Punk Poncho project from the first Generation T book last week (level 3), and it actually wasn’t that hard, and I was pretty satisfied with the outcome. So, if you ever had any doubt about whether or not the projects in your book are “accessible” enough for anyone to do, don’t worry, they are.
Thanks, Emily! I work hard to make my projects easy-to-follow so that everyone who’s inspired to try can feel confident in cultivating their DIY. All of the level 3 projects should be relatively easy, but the 1 and 2 ratings are reserved for “no sew”. I can’t wait to hear (or see!) what you make next!
Wow, is this THE Megan Nicolay? I really didn’t expect you to write back, but anyway, I also made a small throw pillow out of my V-Day T-shirt that I got my second year of university when I was in The Vagina Monologues, in an attempt to rescue it from a previous botched DIY attempt. After that, I’m thinking of making the Rollover shirt out of my old high school band T-shirt that’s way too big, except I can’t decide if I want to do that or turn it into a pair of yoga pants instead….I’m not sure how well those DIY yoga pants would hold up to, you know, actually wearing them to do yoga, especially since I don’t have a working sewing machine. But anyway, if you want to see the poncho I made, it’s right here in my Photobucket album. It looks better on me, but I couldn’t get a good picture looking in the mirror:
